What is a book?

Well put simply, a book is (usually) an object based around pages being bound together.

But that says little about the creativity that can be achieved, here are a few that opened my eyes to the more extreme possibilities in book design and construction.

'Rainbow In Your Hand' by Masashi Kawamura. A deliciously simple idea!

AtoZ in 3D. I actually first came across this in the college library, It was a total surprise and I was transfixed for about 10 mins muttering 'wow'. An amazing piece of paper engineering, god knows how they managed to mass-produce this!

Chris Van Diemen's online portfolio is well worth a look. He is a Dutch designer who has dome some really nice experimental book designs.

Noriko Ambe is a Japanese artist who has done some amazing work by intricately cutting existing books
